Running Shoes: Moving Forward, One Step at a Time
Life rarely hands us smooth sidewalks. More often, it throws cracked pavement, loose gravel, and potholes in our path. It’s easy to think we need perfect conditions before we can start moving forward but the truth is, progress begins the moment we lace up our shoes and take the first step.
That’s what Running Shoes is all about. Not the footwear, but the choice to keep going when life feels heavy. Some days it looks like running a marathon; other days it’s a slow shuffle around the block. Either way, the motion matters.
The shoes themselves carry stories. They’ve scuffed through setbacks, splashed through puddles of uncertainty, and carried me farther than I ever thought possible. And they remind me of this: we don’t have to wait for the “right time” to start again. The right time is whenever we decide to step forward.
Maybe your shoes feel worn down. Maybe they’ve been sitting in the corner while fear or doubt convinced you to stay put. That’s okay. They’re still waiting for you. All it takes is the courage to put them on and trust that the road, however messy, will meet you where you are.
I’ve learned that the measure of healing isn’t how fast we move, it’s that we keep moving. Every step says: I’m still here. I’m still choosing myself. I’m still in the race.
So if you’re reading this today, consider it an invitation. Dust off your own running shoes, literal or metaphorical, and take a step forward. Small or large, graceful or clumsy, it doesn’t matter. What matters is the direction — forward.
Because sometimes the bravest thing we can do is keep running, even when the road doesn’t promise an easy finish line.
